We really enjoy our flaky cod fillet burger. With a crisp sweet appley taste and a soft airy bun. The lemon zest adds a little zing. This fried treat can be tucked away in a matter of minutes... literally! What truly sets our cod fillet burger apart is the perfectly balanced tartare sauce. Creamy, tangy, and bursting with fresh herbs, it complements the crispy cod perfectly, elevating every bite. Pair it with a side of golden fries or a refreshing salad, and you’ve got a meal that’s not only satisfying but also unforgettable. Ingredients
- 2 Cod Fillets
- 50g Panko Breadcrumbs
- Zest of 1 lemon
- ½ tsp freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 1 tbsp plain flour
- 1 beaten eggs
- vegetable oil for frying
- 1 round lettuce
- Gluten Free Brioche Buns
- Pinch of smoked sea salt
For the apple sauce
- 2 bramley apples, peeled cored and diced
- 2 tbsp light brown sugar
- 100ml cider vinegar
Instructions
- Mix your breadcrumbs in a bowl with lemon zest and smoked sea salt and black pepper.
- Prepare your cod fillets by coating in flour and then dipping in beaten egg. Next coat in the panko breadcrumbs.
- Leave to one side whilst you make an apple sauce.
- For the apple sauce, peel and chop and place into a saucepan. Simmer for 20 mins in the cider vinegar until the apple softens.
- Sprinkle over some sugar and remove from the heat, allow to cool.
- Cook the cod in hot oil for 3-4 mins on each side. The breadcrumb should be golden brown.
- Drain off excess oil on a sheet of kitchen roll. Toast your bread roll and spread the base with some mayonaisse.
- Place on some lettuce. Add your crispy cod fillet and a generous spoonful of apple sauce.
